Colin Frier
Director
Specialisms: Building acoustics, mechanical engineering noise control, schools and hospitals
On leaving university in 1978 with an honours degree in Building Economics, Colin worked as a surveyor and gained Chartered Surveyor status. These early days in the building industry held him in good stead to embark on his career in building acoustics starting work as a consultant with Sandy Brown Associates in Edinburgh. Whilst there, Colin also returned to studying and gained a Master of Science degree in Acoustics, Noise and Vibration.
In 1985 Colin left Sandy Brown Associates to take up a position with Monitor Acoustic Control where he became a manager of the company. This spell in the commercial world was a further valuable learning experience.
Two years later, Colin and
Dick Bowdler set up New Acoustics. Since then, Colin has consulted on a vast range of projects, specialising in building acoustics and mechanical engineering noise control.
